Dear Gavin & Lucas - Happy First Birthday!

Dear Gavin & Lucas,
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Lucas & Gavin. Happy birthday to you!

I can hardly believe you are 12 months old today! Time flies when you are having fun – and we have had so much fun over this past year. It is both happy and sad at the same time that my little babies are growing up into beautiful, smart and ever charming toddlers.

Tomorrow is your birthday party; Dr Seuss Thing1 and Thing2 themed! All of your friends and family will be there to watch you eat your first taste of sugar!

Today on your birthday (a Friday) daddy and I took the day off work to celebrate. We had a busy day in Seattle. Gavin, you had your first haircut today to prepare for your party since it was getting out of control! I think you look older with short hair. It is so cute and you look very handsome! You got a balloon, loc of hair and a photo! You didn't cry at all during hair cut, I was able to distract you with animal crackers and a bucket of toys. The balloon was the highlight of your day and brother got his own balloon too. Luc, don't worry we will take you to the same place so you can experience your first cut (when you get enough hair in a year or so Mr. Bald Man!)

After the haircut, we had a quick lunch and a car-nap. Then we headed to the bank and opened up your very first savings account with your piggy bank money from Great Grandma & Grandpa Neel. You each have $130 WOW! Don't worry, we will keep adding to it.

A few milestones: you have both started waving, it is so cute because you do it toward yourself (copying what you see people do at you!). You each say a few words that we can sort of make out of your cute little babble talk, and you are trying to communicate more and more each day. Crawling and standing are big these days and you are starting to try steps. If we hold your hands you are very brave and will cruise around the house, but you are not quite ready to walk on your own yet.

One of our favorite games right now is playing copy cat. You guys are so good at copying whatever we do. The best is when we say "Oh-Wa-Wa" and tap our mouth with a hand, or say "Buh" and use a finger to strum our lips. You can now do this yourself and think it is so funny - these cute things are so hard to explain! :)

We can't wait for your party!

Loving you more every day,
Mama
