Gavin & Lucas,
Today you were so brave, you had ear tubes put in and did great! We arrived at the hospital at 7am (without breakfast!) and were checked in, you got stickers and got to pick out a little stuffed animal to keep then we changed you into a hospital gown and we played in a room waiting for the nurses to take you back. At 8am the nurses came in with a little red wagon to take Luc to surgery, you loved the wagon and enjoyed the ride back. About 20 minutes later the nurse came back for Gavin but you didn't want to ride in the wagon so you happily let the nurse carry you back instead, no cries!
Mommy and daddy went to the recovery room and right away a sleepy and cranky Lucas met us there. You did not like the feeling of waking up to the anesthetic, it probably felt funny and it made you mad. You were also sleepy so after a quick drink of apple juice and a dose of tylenol with codeine you were asleep in daddy's arms. Then Gavin came back even more cranky than Lucas was; you were thrashing around and hitting and were very mad at the way you felt. You also got some tylenol-3 and apple juice, after about 10 minutes you were yourself again happily playing on the floor, eating animal crackers and waving to the nurses outside our door.
We talked to the doctor who said everything went great, and at 10 am we got to go home! We had a quick snack since you didn't get breakfast, and then we all watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and took a 3 hour nap together! You ate PB&J and then quietly and mostly happily played together for the rest of the night!
You did so great, and we hope that these tubes help you feel better!
Love,
Mommy
